As I was walking by, O complimented me on my camera. When that happens, the person complimenting you usually turns out to be a serious photographer--and in this case it was true! O does videography mostly, but loves photography. We talked Leica, FujiFilm, Canon, etc. O has recently gotten into film, because she loves the aesthetics of film cameras. She had a small film camera with her--she's always documenting the life around her. Nice to meet you, O!
Jim saw me photographing in town and struck up a conversation. He's a treasure house of local lore. He's also a photographer and knows other photogs in the area. He recommended nearby spots that are good to photograph. Best of all, Jim recommended a local watering hole where festivities kick off at 4:00 pm!
I met these veterans and their service dogs at the Washington Monument. It was an honor for me to chat with the gentlemen even just for a minute. I didn't get their names, but their dogs are Maximus and Cerberus! The one gentlemen said that his wife is a former Marine, and she came up with the name Cerberus. I also spoke with a friend of theirs, not pictured. He was standing there with his dog, and I said what a good program the service dogs for vets is, and he said quite simply, "My dog saved my life."
